What is Acupuncture?
Acupuncture is among the oldest healing practices in the world. Acupuncture practitioners stimulate specific points on the body—most often by inserting thin needles through the skin. In traditional Chinese medicine theory, this regulates the flow of qi (vital energy) along pathways or channels known as meridians.
What is Biomedical Acupuncture?
This form of acupuncture is primarily used to treat pain associated with pinched nerves, muscle pain or joint injuries. It targets what are known as trigger points or more simply, the ‘knots’ in your muscles to encourage relaxation. Biomedical acupuncture signals the nervous system to release pain-reducing agents (endorphins) and produce anti-inflammatory effects.
Other health care practitioners like Naturopaths or Traditional Chinese Medicine practitioners use acupuncture to treat internal conditions such as digestion problems, menstrual irregularities / infertility, skin problems and many others.
What injuries can be treated with biomedical acupuncture?
- Neck pain & tension headaches after prolonged computer work
- Migraine Headaches
- Low back pain with or without sciatica
- Carpal tunnel syndrome
- Numbness or tingling of the arm / leg
- Common running injuries: shin splints, achilles tendinitis
- Tennis elbow / golfer’s elbow

“I had been suffering from a neck injury since 2003. It affected my nervous system and hands would vibrate randomly. I had been to 4 chiropractors in the last several years trying different forms of chiro/acupuncture… Even though I was very very skeptical about trying acupuncture again, Kevin asked me to try his method… I started seeing results after the 3rd treatment. This was about a year ago. To this date, I haven’t had the vibrations come back. I am grateful for the treatment…” – M.A.
